My damn brake light just started to come on for no freakin reason..  Only time its on is when my parking brake is on, but its not... Parking brake is off, and if it was on i would feel it, but its not engaged yet the light comes on/off..  I'm just gonna ride it like it is, till something falls off..  I'm breaking up with my car, she's done..

Wait a minute, step away from that Rolla...easy!!!

That has happened to all of us Rob. What it means is tha that the reservoir is low on brake fluid, and the reason why is because your front pads will need replacing soon. The caliper piston is pushed out almost to it's limit, and therefore more brake fluid is in the caliper, making the reservoir register low. I bet you it happens mostly when you brake abruptly and begin to slow down. It was happening to me recently till I changed my pads.

So you have two choices. Fill up the resevoir just a bit, and it will go away for a little bit, or just replace your pads, which will probably be best.

I don't know if Toyota designed this into their system, or if the brake fluid sensor is just ultra sensitive.

Now, please, don't shoot the rolla, she is still getting you places!

damn, i was hoping to get new brake pads when i buy my rotors... I have to wait till my 2nd Quarter bonus comes in, lol..   I guess i'll just fill up the resovoir, for now.. If i see thats it getting worst i'll just have to do the brake pads..

What rotors are you getting? The brembo cross-drilled as machined by www.kvrperformace.com are really good. I have had mine for three years, and no problems! they are based out of Canada, but good work. If yo get cross-drilled make sure they are candium plated as well. Little more money, but it will nhibit the rust for a while.

I haven't decided what rotors i want to get yet. I've been looking around, but haven't really picked out any specific ones yet. I've looked at rotora.com and some other places..  I'll probably go with the ones you recommend since you seem happy with yours.. What pads should i get with them?

well, when I first got my brakes i go their carbon-fibre pads, but they sucked. Too hard and they scored the rotors a little. I finally just went with OEM toyota pads and have not looked back!

I know that some people recommend aftermarket pads, but I really have no experience with aftermarket ones.

hey i had the same problem back in sep. i thought something was wrong with my ebrake but X is right. The light means you need front brakes pads. Toyota did this. i guess they were to lazy to put in a "need brake pad replacement" light lol

I wonder if they make those pads for our cars? i also hear the TRD HP pads are good, but hard to come by and expensive. I think that if you are not doing X-cross, or competing, that OEM should be good enough for your needs. I had those for the longest, and honestly dus is almost non-existent, and breaking is really good both in wet and dry.

www.pureperf.com for Rotors...Drilled only (Per the sites recommendations)
www.tirerack.com for EBC greens (some of the best aftermarket pads) and very minimal dust.
I've had my ebc's for 12,000 mi and they will go another 10,000 at least.
Took pictures this weekend...couldn't believe my rear shoes have 91,000 on them and don't need to be replaced yet  8O

Hey that www.pureperf.com is prettu good! They sell the same KVR Performance rotors for like $20 less than buying them directly form KVR!  8O

I bought mine from KVR, but this was a few years ago. I also ordered the KVR Fibre Pads and those were the worse pads ever! I see that site is recommending those, but from my experience it scratched the rotors, made a horrible noise when stopping, and were just all around bad. I decided to go back to stock Toyota pads. Maybe when I need to change pads I will try the EBC's!

Thanks for the info Rich! And yes, if you buy rotors, you should get them cadmium plated, I didn't, and I wished I had!  :-(
