Well like the title said im looking to throw my first engine mod on my 04 Rolla S.  My friend says a CAI, but after lookign at the HP gains on an AEM intake (1-3) i kinda shyed away from the idea of investing in a $200ish mod with minimal gains.  I was thinking of working on the exhaust first.  Maybe getting Ceramic Headers and a catback exhaust.

Anyway im looking for some imput from you guys (and gals Tongue)  Let me know what you think.

When I did mine I got the exhaust first (TRD muffler) and then the intake. I would say get the exhaust first, and if you can afford it then the headers, and then do the intake.

That is just my opinion. Ideally I think it would be good to do both intake and muffler at once, and then the headers.

Hope this helps man!

heres my advise, air in take first, we really are robbed of air w/ the stock ones and that pices of extra tubing leading towards the front is useless.

AEM
K & N
TRD
generic brand

they all do the same exact thing, its the filter that makes the differance.

Then get the exhaust and a header, then proceed to up the size on the remainin amount of tubing left.

Follow this w/ some AEM or UNORTHORDOX pulleys and your chillin.

they are actually a good amount of products ofr us 03+ rollas.  check monkeywrench.com.

holla

the intake will give you more gains than an exhaust. The exhaust alone will only give you maybe 1 or 2 hp. Got for the CAI definitly. The gains aren't minimul. 7hp is a good jump plus it adds some low end torque.
www.adventon.com has possibly the best prices I've seen. Or go for the 1zz supercharger

I went intake first and I don't regret it at all. CAI a good choice.

The gains are minimal but still a good first eng. mod. I think I'm gettig use to the sound of it.  The AEM sound sweet.

Good luck......

Wait till you get the muffler! When I got my intake installed, I could tell the difference between the intake noise, and muffler noise. Now they have just combined into one sound! but when I turn up my stereo my car becomes completely quiet! lol
