Wait till it's warmer sounds good to me.
We all should make a prioritized to do list for this comming spring and plan DIY's according to who needs to do what...  Just a thought.

The whole regrounding kit is like ~$45 more or less. It is a little more since we forgot to buy all the terminals for the 4 gauge wires, and I split shipping  with Jeff.

This is the ebay store where we bougth the stuff from:

http://www.stores.ebay.com/bagboyhomeandcaraudiowiring/plistings/list/all/dept1/index.html?col=2&dir=-1

Basically you need 2 Battery terminals. This are the ones we bought:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3057771421&category=14932

One positive and one negative.

10' of 4 gauge wire. This is the one we bought:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3053370625&category=32810

They have different colors, so you can choose your color.

8 - 4 gauge terminals:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3053370259&category=14932

and that was it. This turns out to be like ~45 or a little more with shipping and all. You will not spend more than $55. You can e-mail sales@darvex.com and tell him waht you are interested in. he will give you a break on shipping, and send everything your way. I just told him to give me the total in a paypal invoice, I payed him, and three days later everything was here. i have bought other stuff after this purchase from him, and everything has been perfect and in time. We should make him a sponsored stored since he is really good. Has some good quality stuff, and some OK stuff, bu everything is priced right, and it is better than what you will find out there on the street.

Let me know if I am missing anything, and this should answer martin11581'a question.

The regrounding does not take long to do either.

I asked about this kit before. Apparently the quality is not hat great, and it is kind of bulky. We also got new battery terminals for both + and - battery terminals. Also Rich pointed out that the material in the kit is not the best.
And of course what we did looks better because it is custom made.
That is about it. If you don't want the positive battery terminal then you can save yourself $12.50.

supposedly you also some how gain gas milage, so Ive heard.  I dont know what truth there is behind that, but anyway, that is one benefit.

2nd, the system, it helps w/ the dimming problem and also gives back a faster electrical responce.

3rd, a nice custom modification look.

holla

BTW I WANT TO REGROUND MY ALTERNATOR, that mod Ive heard gives the very best responce for system purposes, ESPECIALLY SINCE I AM GOING LARGE.

Hey Jeff, you don't need this. We already regrounded your alternator. Remember how we attached the cable to your alternator? That is it. There is nothing else to do. YOu m ay just want to finish it by attachung that last piece of cable that we were missing at the DYI. Martin asked about this same kit furnter up this thread, and it is not a good kit. Unless I am mistaken, that is the only thing you need to do. There is really nothing else to reground.

Xavier, I couldve sworn that a tutorial that I read, actually replaced the wires from the ALTENATOR.  Basicallt the wiring from the alternator were upgraded as well for bigger--thicker wires. IF I AM NOT MISTAKEN.  Ill see if I can come across that infomation again.  Even though we did add the extra wires to the alternator when we regrounded the engine, I think there is an ACTUAL ALTERNATOR reground kit as well, Im not sure though.

holla

JEFF

The reason I thought the kit I posted was for an alternator was because of the circular thing the wires are attached too

No, that is just suppossed to be a grounding point to put all your wires in, but I think we determined that it was made of aluminum which is not a good conductor. I think the alternator wire is already running a 4 gauge wire, so there really is no need to redo that. The weak points are from the battery, since there is only one point to where it is grounded. Basically in any automobile your whole car is a ground because of the cable connecting from your battery to the chassis. What we did is add more points of return so that there is not only one grounding point but multiples point of return which reduces resistance. So, this is the main reason that you do a regrounding so that your resistance to ground lowers.

Anyone want to add/correct the info here?

Well because it is really getting cold outside.  And Febuary might be rainy  or cold.

Unless we get some really late blooming Indian Summer then i think DIY meets are pretty much over due to it being cold and it getting dark earlier now.

Hey all, I'd like to possibly be on hand for this. Where would u meet up to do it? Y'all a bunch of sweeties talkin about March!  Cheesy HAHAHA I just got in from a modding session! As long as we got plenty of lamps goin, you'll be fine. It isn't all that cold yet. Anyway, Aris(Tracer342/Matriximpulse) and I would be glad to help out if anyone wants. We were the guys at the meet who had the big azz distro blocks on our ground kits. The best place to buy the equipment if you haven't already is down on Canal. We are prob gonna go hit it up for some parts soon if anyone needs to get down. Lemme know - Dave

DAVE, lol, sweeties, well Im the first to admit Im a bitch when it comes to being cold, lol.  But on the real though, it being caold and getting dark was one reason I though till Febuary - March and the 2nd reason os to give everyone enough time to get the materials they need and so we can discuss where the DIY meet will be.  I hosted last time and wouldnt mind doing it again if neccessary.

I'm down for re-grounding my car... I'm gonna order the parts this weekend. As for a DIY at my house...Not sure as of yet. I have a few things booked for the next couple of weekends, but by the time I'm free it might really be cold out. Never the less, if something comes up and i'm free one weekend, soon, then we can go for it. The only thing it might be really short notice.

They are tons of stores that sell that stuff over here. I say over here cuz I am at work, and I worl two blocks off Canal St. There is one in particular that has the cable, and terminals, and everything else. Honestly the prices are a little bit more expensive than the online store. Of course if you buy it together with a few people, it gets even cheaper becuase you can combine shipping.

I bought my Stinger 8 gauge amp wiring kit for $18 which included 20' RCA cables, 20' power cable, 3' ground cable, 20' speaker cable, 50 amp fuse and holder, 4 connectors, and some screws. Canal wanted to charge me $45 for a similar kit.

But I did buy my sub and speakers from Canal becuase I wanted them right there, and the prices were comparable. So it all depends on what you want to buy.

Lemme know - Dave

hey dave where in canal cause i work not to far from there... i know a store there called uncle steve is near by or is it there.

I know this is kinda vague, but if you were across the street from uncle steve looking directly at it, you would turn left and head 1 block down and make a left. The store we go to is 2 or 3 in on the right. It's Aris' guy so he may know the name of the place, but that stuff is pretty available down there. We just happen to get an even better discount with this guy cuz Aris has been dealing with him for a while. - dave

I have to reground something but it ain't in the engine bay. My radio still loses power once every blue moon. I'd have to rip the interior apart and redo  all the ground points.

I'll come and watch. I doubt I'd be able to get anything done though.
