Dr.Tweak, I was looking at your Phoenix Tuning site and noticed the rear brake conversion kit...I want to be able to upgrade my brakes but can never find rotors for my car (just OEM) and being an ST I have drums in the rear...I want to be able to upgrade and get discs in the rear and keep the 4x100 bolt pattern...I've only been able to find conversions that also change the bolt pattern...what do you think?

Sorry bro, all this time I thought you have a 91 corolla.  This use to be a corolla-exclusive club way back when....

Anywho - why do you not want to change the lug pattern? You have many more options when it comes to wheel size with the 5-lug.  Especially seeing how you like to auto-x.

BTW, nice webpage and very sweet ride.  You should think about doing the sleepy eye mod. I'm gonna do it to my AW11, that and a H4 housing conversion with HID retrofitting.

as far the drum to disk, i don't know about your ST, but on my AE92 sedan I did the conversion and used the AE92 GT-S rear suspension.  I changed everything, from the disks to the sway bar.

It was a bolt on affair.  Had some difficulty with the e-brake cable and I'm thinking about getting a SW20 booster.

I tell you, breaks feel MUCH better and it wasn't a strain on the pocket.  $300 for everything.

My future plans are to get the ST185's two-piston front brakes.  From what i hear on the mk1.5 board, it's a bolt on!

Yea, I spend too much time with the webpages sometimes, but thanks.  As for the bolt pattern I guess I wanted to see if I could do it without having to get new wheels and tires, which means I could do it sooner.  Oh and...you did all that for 300 bucks?!  not to shabby, meanwhile all I want is the brakes... I don't exactly have the money for it just yet so I'll still be researching.  But thanks for the help, I guess now I need to find what will work for my car that easily or close to.

i got the rear suspension at the junkyard for $200.  I think I over paid big time for it, but i went to like 5 other junkyards and NOBODY had it so it was like a spurr of the moment.

In either case, I do my own work if it's not too complicated.

No prob. That's what the boards are for: to share knowledge!:-)

What I would do if I were you is doing the GT rear disc conversion and then do the 5-lug conversion up front as well. It's very easy. Do you have some nice 4-lug rims you want to keep or something like that?

The only other option is use the GT rear disc parts, but have the hub pressed out and install your ST one (it should fit), and then redrill the bolt pattern on the brake rotors, that would work too.

when I bought my celica it had aftermarket wheels that I do like, but it wouldnt bother me to have to get rid of them.  I just don't have the money to do the brakes and get a set of wheels...but I'll probably end up doing it anyway, the idea of doing the GT rear disc and then converting the front to 5 lug just seems like an easier better idea...

back again...and still thinking about brakes and getting closer to affording more parts!

NOW I'm looking to just do the GT conversion and going with the 5 lug and saving up for wheels later...

I'm just curious about a few things like...what is involved with the conversion? does it just bolt up? anything to worry about?

and why is it that I still cant find any kind of slotted and/cross drilled rotors? even for the GT?
