Ok, I was on the highway in 5th gear, and I started to go up a hill. Since I was taching low to begin with; I had to downshift. Instead of going to 4th, I wanted to race up the hill and shift into 3rd, as I have done many times before (at the speed I was going it would be about 4500 in 3rd).

Anyways, I missed 3rd (as it is late, I was coming home from a concert, and I've been up since early this morning with 3 hours sleep the night before), and now I have a real big problem.

My clutch pedal has little to no resistance. If I am in neutral and I start the car, I can't shift into any forward gear, and reverse grinds like a *****; so I know the clutch isn't disengaging.

When I put the shifter into 1st and start the car (and pump the gas so it starts in gear), I can rev match to shift up through the gears. Once in 3rd or higher, the clutch works; though only at the last inch or so of the pedal. It DOES disengage.

The fluid is full, and when you pump the clutch I can see the fork moving (or at least the boot on the front of my tranny)

What did I do to my poor car?

Could something as simple as bleeding the lines help?   Just a thought.  I've found the simplest things can solve stipid issues.

Also, I don't know much at all about Manual trannies, but could maybe the fork have slipped partially off of the spring?

good luck. Smiley

Your clutch slave cylinder went bad, or your clutch is going bad. One or the other.

It is a brand new clutch, and it has been fine until this incident... could a slave cylinder just die like that?

WoW! :-o :-o  I am sorry to say but you got raped!

I know places down here that do it for half that, but of course what good does that do you if you are not here.

The good thing is that you won't probably have to change the clutch again for the life of the car. I am not sure if you have to follow a clutch burn in time procedure.

Like they say you have to pay to play.
