Well, I'm sliding you car down one slot for a couple reasons, first of all because you won't need it until spring, and Mark's 3000GT twin turbo clip is taking up half my garage where it has been for the last several months, and I really want it out of my way. So since that's a pretty simple swap, I'm going to bang that out first, and then get going on yours.

And before THAT, I have to insulate my garage and heat it. It's REALLY cold up here. I just finished rewiring it yesterday with aluminum armored cable, so it's all set now, very nice. I bought the insulation yesterday too and it's going to be delivered on Monday. Once that's done, then I just need to install a propane heater that a friend is giving me, and I'm going to be all NICE AND WARM working in the shop this winter! HAHA!

At the moment there's no where else to put it, that's why I need that 3KGT clip outta here! But don't worry, there's very little snow right now, it's just cold. On Tuesday it's going to be in the 60s, in fact...

Oh well... 16 years and no snow was a good record  Tongue

If you find anyone who wants that 4age or the exhaust manifold off the 20v, feel free to sell it for me and keep the $$ towards the swap!

Your car is going to be FAST!! Aaron7.

What is the going price for a 4AGZE Engine, Tranny, ECU, Super Charger, and all ancillaries to run the engine? I think a front clip would be an overkill. What you think guys, it's going to be for my AE102 Corolla.

There is an AE92 Trueno front clip on ebay right now, for $1900 + shipping from GA.

If you get it, you have to sell me the dash and everything to make mine a right hand drive. You know, finder's fee kinda thing Tongue

Aaron, what are you planning to do with the exhaust again?

Usually around $1500. I agree about the front clip... but if you can get some money back for the RHD stuff, then do it.

Which, by the way Aaron, would be AWESOME.

I have a 4agze MR2 header for you, I just have to get it to you! As for the rest of the exhaust, will what I have work? It looks so good on the car! lol

As for the right hand drive thing... that WOULD be amazing. Then I'd HAVE to keep both cars! lol

Well it's been a while since I've been busy with other projects, but this past week I had some time to work on this while waiting for parts. Here is the distributor block-off plate and the trigger wheel mounted on the crank pulley, balanced within the weight of a mosquito's eyeball:

The block-off plate installed:

And the crank pulley and VR sensor installed:

No, by talking I mean calibrating sensors and that kind of thing, but once all that's squared away, it could be pretty close to it's first startup Smiley

Well everyone, for the past couple of days I was able to get going on this project again. I spent a lot of time double-checking all of my settings, wiring, testing things out, and so on. Finally this afternoon I decided to give it a shot. Not expecting much I had Niki crank the engine over while I watched the laptop.

THE ENGINE STARTED UP ON THE FIRST TRY!!!

I really was suprised, put the values I had calculated and entered and all the settings were right on, the car started right up just like it was running on a stock computer. I let it idle for about a minute and then shut it down.

Next I've got to make sure it can move around under it's own power, and then I'm bringing it to an exhaust shop to get the exhaust done and an 02 bung welded in. Then I can begin tuning with the wideband! Smiley

Heheh I was pretty pumped too. Niki was actually in the driver's seat and cranked it over while I was watching the laptop, and when it started right up she was like, "ah, what did I do???" because neither of us was expecting it to start right up.

After getting it running, yesterday I tried driving it out of the garage to load it up for a trip to the exhaust shop. That's when I found that the clutch was totally shot, it BARELY moved it out of the garage and then back in. So I had to drop the tranny out and get that changed, I wrapped that up this morning. Works perfectly now. The car is now at the exhaust shop and it should be all set be the end of tomorrow, so next week tuning starts.

Here are some shots of the clutch replacement, I also replaced the rear main seal while I was in there.

I'm happy the clutch was bad... as now I know it's new!

Also, are you going to look the wires in the pic?

How did the exhaust go?

So, I've been driving the car for almost 3 weeks, and here are my impressions:

The car runs nice and smooth, and shifts great. This is always a concern... as these motors have been sitting in a warehouse for who knows how long, and before that they were in a junkyard!

It runs quite rich, but some tuning with straighten that out.

Even running rich, the power is definately more than I had before. Once the tuning is done, I'm sure I will be 100% convinced it was worth the swap.

The harness is completely taped up... and seemingly very tight, as I washed the engine with no issues!

The Megasquirt seems to be working great, along with the EDIS (it is running, right? haha)

So overall I think it came out great. Few small glitches, but nothing that can't be sorted out.

Thanks again Doc!
