Hello Dr. Tweak

I see your fame is growing amongst the boards!  Well, I'll explain the situation in a second, but I'd like to let you know I have heard a lot about you from my friend Matt (91yota), and from what I hear, you do amazing work.

My situation is, I'm looking for a 240SX.  I've been looking all over, and once and a while, will find something that I'm looking for, but so far, no sucess stories.  One thing I'm really looking for, is a clean body, with no more damage then normal imperfections due to a vehicles normal wear and tear.

I have found a 240 in Texas, on Ebay, and it is something that looks could be a great find, but the problem is, the motor is shot.  My question basically is, where can I find a motor, and how hard is the swap, and or would you be willing to do it for me, and other information I would need to know.

Here is the link.

Thanks in advance,
Dane

Dr Tweak will most surely be able to swap it out for you, the question is how much you want to spend.

You may also consider and evaluate how sound the rest of the body is. I mean what good is a new/transplant engine if your body is all crooked, or there are suspension problems and other things wrong with it?

If you can see it in person that would definitely give you a better idea.

Also you may want to ask him what his reserve price is.

GL,

Hello and welcome!

That 240SX looks like a nice car, pretty clean. However, the drive out there and back is something to consider. Just a few weeks ago I saw a very clean 240SX on boston.craigslist.com, it was cheap too (blown engine). If I had had the money I would have picked it up. The point is that you can find yourself a good deal if you are patient enough.

As far as the swap, I'm assuming that you want an SR20DET? That's the most common swap, but you didn't specify, did you just want another stock engine put in?

Or perhaps an RB26DET? Cheesy

Let me know and we'll go from there.

Hi Dr Tweak,

My question is

Do you actually do swaps for people?  I'm asking because I'd like to swap out the D15 in my CRX racecar at some point and would love to not do it myself.  I'd consider anything from the simple D16A1 to a VTEC newer style setup.  Since this is a racecar, the wiring harness is completely exposed already and could be totally swapped with a donor car.  My goal is to get a bit more power, higher rev limit and closer gear ratio on the tranny for not a lot of $$.

thanks, jack

Well, friday me and MTX450 are going to jersey to look at another 240.  I think it's actually nicer than the one in Texas and doesn't need a motor swap right away, and is also still a 5speed.  He'll be back with the good news if he buys it.

Yeah, swaps is what I do, check it out: http://www.phoenixtuning.com/

That's a pretty easy car to do swaps on, so let me know: drtweak@phoenixtuning.com
