Hey yes im a newby i found Phoenix Tuning and wonted to find out if i could swap the GT4 motor in my everyday driver 89Camry 4door!!! just wonted to know what all would be done or if its possible... anyone here tried??? also wonted to see if i could use the 4wheel drive system (certain camry's came 4wheel i dont know if it was in america but i seen them on cardomain)...

well welcome buddy! Doc is the man to talk to about the swap. i wouldn't know how hard it would be to make it an all whell drive car. but i imagine it to be a little expensive. but if you happen to find one in a junk yard then i say go for it!

Hey there.

Yes you can swap that engine it's it's not too bad, probably run you about $5000 total with all the parts and labor. Using the AWD system would be wayyy more difficult, it's out of range of what we do at this point, in fact.

i would like to go AWD but if i could just do FWD i'll be happy... do you have any pics of previouse swaps like this or do you know of anyone on here that has done it before??? thanks for all your help and i love the site...

I've seen a few people with them in the Camry, it's basically the same exact deal as what I did with the '97 Celica on the site, just check that out and imagine your Camry there instead Wink

And yeah FWD is simple and effective to do.

Actually, it will bolt right in with the right ones, is your Camry a 4 cylinder 5-speed?

Perfect, just keep your stock tranny, we'll only need to modify one mount, run a few lines use your stock axles and tranny mounts, and the wiring.

Plus a front mount intercooler. Probably could do the swap for closer to $4000.

Also its gonna be hard to do the swap if you guys are in Vermont and im in
