hey all- yes it's been a while for me.. Had family and work stuff to concentrate on.. but I've been peeking in every now and then...

So..as most of you know I've been looking to tint my windows for over a year now.. Finally.. I decided to get it done. I found a reputable place that also sells car radio equipt, and had VERY impressive install pictures..  They tinted the rear windows and the two back windows slightly darker than the front two (as per my request) then gave me a nice strip of tint on top of my windshield..  They said wait three days till opening the windows to give it time to set.. As Instructed I did just that.. I should have known there were going to be problems when I picked up my car, and all the windows were a MESS- strong haze from the stuff the guy used to apply it. ( he never cleaned up when he was done) I could barely see out the windows... but i left it for 3 days.. On Friday after work I went to the car wash and asked them to concentrate on cleaning the inside of the windows... STILL- when looking out the windows things are blurry. I feel like I' driving in fog. Its even worse when using the rear view mirror. I have the same problem looking out the side mirrors..  PLUS the top the the windshield bannner tint is already peeling. I'm gonna show up tomorrow, but before I make a fool out of myself and get pissed off, I need to know what you all think...  As soon as I get home tonight, I'll try to capture this wonderful ambience of sh**y tinit job on camera and post up the pics... because..of course..I'm at work..and the camera is at home...  BTW: Parkway Car Stereo is the place I went to, and they charged me $200.   Suggesstions would be greatly appreciated as to my next step...

Hey man, welcome back.

I found a couple of sites that have good answers to your questions, and this may be the problem.

http://www.mikestintshop.com/faq.asp#1

http://www.tintdude.com/care.html

They have a lot of answers for different problems there but this is what they say about haziness:

Q:I just had my windows tinted and now it's all hazy. It's been several days and it hasn't gone away.

A: You must have had a metalized film applied to your windows. Metalized film has a much slower drying time. Under normal drying conditions such as hot summer days it will take 1-2 weeks, but in the winter time the drying time usually takes 30 days. Also, drying time depends on how much sun exposure the windows receive during the day, the more sun the faster the drying.

With that in mind I had a few cars tinted and have never experienced the haziness. It may be dues to the quality of the product they used. You can always go back and ask them what is going on with your hazy issues.

Good luck,

X

thanks for the help laz. The only thing that confuses me now, is that he only told me 3 days. They say on the website that the windows should not be rolled down till complety dry, and its been really hot. and 6 days since the tint job.  I'm gonna have to find out weather or not they are metallic.

so.. the car saw the tint guy again today.. He fixed the little piece that was comming off, that was no problem..

He claims that the "blur" that I see out the back window(through the rear view mirror) is because of the defroster lines. He says the lines lift the tint off of the window and that makes it seem blurry? I call BS!!

I figure allot of people here have the same car, and I havent noticed it on anyone elses...

The blur is a problem at night with headlights shinning at my back windshield with defrosters and tint; you can?t see the cars except their lights due to distortion; should not be a problem during the day unless your rear deck reflects to much light back into the tint.
