Hey gang, I have an 03 corolla S, I presently have 205/50/16 from a celica gt on, and lowered on H&R Race springs, about 2" drop. I want to get wider tires but am afraid they will rub. I was thinking about 225/50/16, bu tif they will rub, I was also thinking of leaving the front and widening the rears only, what do you guys think? If you think I should just widen the rears, what size tires should I get, thanks

225's might not fit, well fit correctly on those wheels and if they do fit they might actually make your handling a bit worse. You might just want to go with 215s depends on the actual width of those wheels. For 225s to fit right you'd need those wheels to be at least 7.5" wide. I doubt the celica wheels are that wide, especially the 16s. As for widening just the rears...why? it's front wheel drive and unless you plan on going into corners full speed then jamming on the brakes at the apex of the turn..wide rear tires won't do anything for you. As for rubbing. Go on the www.newcelica.org and find out the offset on those puppys. Then you can find out how wide you can go with what offset and the width of the wheel

why you wanna get wider tires to begin with?
205 is more than good enough.
wider is just gonna make you slower. unless that' what's your aiming for :stern:

wider is just gonna make you slower. unless that' what's your aiming for :stern: Not really true unless you go super wide like 255s. Plus it also depends on the wheel you getting. If you have 18X8 motegis hell yeah they're going to slow you down cause they're 200 pounds each. You you get 18x8 volks, OZs, or SSRs and they definitly won;t slow you down in any way., but there is some truth behind your reasoning. Wider tires usually mean better traction, which from a stop will get you going faster to begin with. Plus you can do twisties a hell of alot better. the more weight u put in the ride, u slower u go 8O you used to have chrome rims..what the hell are you preachin about..hahaha...j/k

the problem with changing the overall diameter is you'll off set the speedometer. for example since you're increasing the overall diameter of the tire the speedo might say 30, but she'll be going like 35(not exact just an estimate) why would you want a bigger sidewall especially if they're already 265/70's

STORM So when someone changes thier rims and tires to a bigger size like say 18's, that will also offset the speedometer???

why would you want a bigger sidewall especially if they're already 265/70's because 265/75 are cheaper then 265/70 So when someone changes thier rims and tires to a bigger size like say 18's, that will also offset the speedometer??? I think that as long as your overall diameter (from one end of the wheel to the other end.) are the same. you're gonna travel the same speed. but if it it changes in anyway. There's going to be a difference between your actual speed and your spedometer.
