I believe that the recommended change interval for a new car is 3,000 miles. Of course some manufacturers make you change it in the first 1000 miles, and some not until 5000 or 7000. I would say that since your car is brand new you should have the oil changed at your dealership for at least the first 10000 miles. If you are in bayside I take it that you may have bought your car in Bayside? I used to go to Queensboro toyota when my car was new. I went there until my car was out of warranty which was 36,000 miles. They were really good, even though as the car got older the maintanence got more expensive at the dealership.

At 20,000 miles I changed to synthetic oil and have not looked back. I never did oil changes at the dealership, just had them do the regular maintanance except oil. I usually buy the oil at auto barn by the gallon, and the oil filter at the dealership. Do not forget if you buy the oil filter at the dealership to make sure to also buy the drain bolt gasket. Many people forget to do that. Anyway, I say go to the dealership so if anything goes worng with the car you will have no problems with warranty work. They should not charge you more than 25 dollars for an oil change, and you can usually wait for it.
