Hrmm... On ebay they claim they sell a performance chip for RoLLa's. Not sure if they are valid though. That's why I'm asking. Never knew anyone to have a performance chip for our cars...

there is a generis module chip/computer similar to the ones made for hondas out there.  It is also about half the price if not way less than them $200 add ons.  I will try to find the link, Ive read some good reviews about it from 2003corolla.org

holla

Ill post the link to the home page to the moduale chip/computer as soon as I get a chance.

So, from reading the description on ebay this is what it says:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The ADVANCE Performance Chip Module works by altering the air/fuel ratio in the ECU. Expect 5-20 horsepower. The car is designed to regulate the amount of fuel used during different air temperatures. It is known that under cooler conditions the car combusts more fuel. When the engine heats up, certain vital censors can relay incorrect information to the ECU. To counteract that effect, this chip simulates cooler air temperatures, thus the vehicle's computer registers a slightly altered reading and increases the amount of fuel entering the engine. This simultaneously adds more power and adjusts the fuel curve to its optimal ratio. This chip also advances the timing up to 1.5 degrees resulting in a faster and hotter spark. It is also important to note that this chip will be a great addition to either modified or stock vehicles.? It has been dyno proven that this device will add up to 20 HP to your vehicle!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

From what I read on other sites the Corolla ECU is very hard to modify. I know they are doing it with the supercharger, but who knows what they are doing. I am kind of skeptical that this chip would actually give you more performance, and I guess the only way of testing it would be to buy it, install it, and do a dyno test on your cars with and without the chip. Huum, sounds like a good article for a magazine, doesn't it?
I almost think that if anything your car would suffer of bad fuel comsumption.

So personally I do not know anyone that has it, but I would be interested if someone did have it to know if it does work.

From what I've heard its nothing more than a resistor that tricks the temp sensor of the car.
Which would be bad for seasonal changes.

If you want "REAL" HP get a 4A-GZE swap! As far as the ECU.....hmmm...I seen a lot junk written about it. But to tell you the truth I really don't think it's gonna work. What I noticed that works is swaping a Manual radiator for a Automatic and using the transmission lines as an engine oil cooler to have your engine run cooler and thus gain a bit of PEP!
