Who was it who can import the parts need to convert a '96 Rolla to read disc brake?  If possible, what parts (rotor, caliper) that can be purchased in the USA?

Already Done! Check out the links below: My set of rear disc brakes came off a Japanese AE111, I bought my set from Mike from Redline Performance. He can get more, but make sure you really want it, before he invest on the parts.

The way I drive , I need it. I am an aggressive driver (not with other cars) Also I am working on the 4AGZE setup, so I am going to need the extra stopping power. Also, it does make a difference, especially if you have ABS. One of my REAR ABS sensors went out, I need to replace it. But right now I don't have the $125.00  + S/H for it.

I paid $350.00 for mine w/ ABS. But if you have a 89-92 Corolla your best bet is to get a 89-92 GT-S TWINCAM Suspension bolts on directly to your car. BTW, I have a set of ROTORS for the GT-S model.

You may be able to get some ideas from my website below.

Mine is the one on the right, I have ABS, mine came with the control arms. It was not that hard at all. Just taking off my old rusty parts was the hardest.

Parts list for your conversion:
e-brake cables from calipers to equalizer bracket $50.00 each at the TOYOTA dealer (AE92 GT-S) don,t use the old ones, trust me on this.

REAR carrier from a 89-92 Corolla GT-S (twin cam)AE92 GT-S

2 REAR Rotors from the AE92 GT-S

2  REARcalipers from a AE92 GT-S

4 brake pads for a AE92 GT-S, FX-16, MR2, Celica, LEVIN or even the 4 cylinder camry has the same brake pads.

Notice that the brake pads are exactly alike. The ones on the right are from the LEVIN AE111 and the ones on the left are from a AE92 GT-S Corolla.

Check this out for some more insider trade TOYOTA secrets. The caliper on the right is the one from the AE92 GT-S and the one to the left is the one from the LEVIN AE111. Just remeber that what changes is the caliper brackets and the carriers, due to the different Rotor sizes.

You are not stupid, just don't know like me when I first started. Just ask a lot of questions and you can't go wrong.

Okay, I would not get anything from the dealer except the E-brake cables. Everything else you better get from a junk yard. or rebuilt, for example the calipers you can get  them rebuilt for about $45.00 each the pads are pretty cheap $20.00 organic or semi-metallic.

The carrier is what bolts the suspension to the chasssis of the car. Here is a picture of it from my website below:

Now this is what they call the HUB- Assembly below: Front view

back view

Now these are basically the parts you need:
2 Caliper Brake Hoses
2 Calipers
2 Caliper torque plates (brackets that hold the caliper to the carrier)L&R
2 Carriers L&R
2 Hub Assemblies L&R

The caliper support is the brackets that hold the calipers. (torque plates)
You do not need the arms , you can use your old ones.
If you need anymore questions answered just ask me.

Listen I have to run now, I'am working the 3X11 shift today. I will hit you back when I come home from work.

BTW, I have the TWO BRAND NEW ROTORS and TWO REBUILT & PAINTED CALIPERS WITH BRACKETS.

This is the back view of the calipers mounted on the carrier for the AE102 above.

And this the front view of the mounted calipers, Noticed there is NO dust shields. You really don't need it, but some people like it because it keeps the dirt off the disc and calipers.

If you need more info I can tell you what you will need or a step by step.

Yes, that is one way of doing it. Or get the rear suspension from a LEVIN AE111 or a AE101(JDM) for the AE102 (93-97) USDM. The conversions are really not that hard to do as long as you have ALL the parts on hand and the PROPER TOOLS for the job.

I've been talking to someone who did the conversion also recently.  They said you can't use the ae92 gts rotors.  They are samller the the JDM rotors.

Yes you can, but you have to use the AE92 GT-S calipers and torque plates as well. Look at my website and see what I am talking about. I prefer the AE111 rear suspension over the AE92 GT-S, Also the OEM Hub Assemblies have to be machined to accomodate the AE92 GT-S rotors, And you need to fabricate your own Caliper brackets , just like I did for my AE92 to Ae102 conversion. Check out my page 4 of my website to see the details.

this picture is of the AE92 GT-S rotors with the OEM AE102 hub Assemblies prior to cutting them.

Now, here they are with the Assemblies cut and fitted to accomodate the AE92  GT-S Rotors.

Here is the finished product. Above and below is the completed conversion  with rebuilt AE92 GT-S calipers and Brackets.

Here is a picture of the brackets that I made from steel plates.

Yes the rotors for the AE92 GT-S are smaller and they are exactly 9 1/2" round ,but the calipers and the brake pads are exactly the same , what changes is the trorque plates, which have to change due to the riotors you are using and the application on the vehicle too.

You can do it, but it takes a lot more time to make the parts fit all together.

Here is a side by side comparison to the AE111 And the AE92 rotors. And below is a side by side comparison with the MR2 Rear rotors. The CALIPERS ARE EXACTLY ALIKE THE BRAKE PADS ARE EXACTLY Just the torque plates change. from model to model. If you can search the TRD websites and the Others as well.

I sold the set of the AE92 And the OEM Assemblies and I went with the AE111 Conversion for the BIGGER rotors. I also upgraded the rubber caliper hoses with GOODRIDGE Stainless Steel Hoses. for better stoping distances.

The Goodridge from ae92 gts, is a set for front and back?  If the front is also included, will it work for the ae102?
